Mechanic working under the bonnet

It is one of the most common worries we hear: will getting my car serviced somewhere other than the dealer void my warranty? The short answer is no, and it is worth knowing why.

What the law says

Under Australian Consumer Law, a carmaker cannot force you to service at their dealership to keep your warranty. You are free to use any suitably qualified workshop. As long as the service follows the manufacturer’s schedule and uses the right quality parts and fluids, your warranty stays intact.

What you do need

The keys are following the logbook schedule, using parts and oils that meet the maker’s specification, and keeping records with the logbook stamped and an itemised invoice. A good independent workshop does all of this as standard.

Why people switch

Independent workshops are often more affordable and more personal than a dealer, while still protecting your warranty. You get the same schedule followed, often by the same person each time, who gets to know your car.

We service to the manufacturer schedule and stamp your logbook, keeping your warranty safe. Book a logbook service at our Stepney workshop, close to Glynde, or ask us a question.
