What a lift does
A lift raises the body and chassis to give more ground clearance and room for larger tyres, and it improves your approach and departure angles on tracks. A good kit also restores proper ride height and control once you add the weight of a bar, drawers and touring gear.
Who actually needs one
If you carry heavy loads, tow, or do genuine off-road touring, a quality matched lift is a worthwhile upgrade for clearance and control. If your 4WD mostly does the school run, a big lift is more about looks than need.
Keep it legal and matched
South Australia limits how much you can raise a vehicle without certification, so it pays to know the rules before you lift. Just as important, the springs, shocks and components must be matched to your vehicle and load, or the ride and handling will suffer.
