Tyres are a real cost of running a car, so getting the most out of every set is money in your pocket. The good news is that a few simple habits make a big difference.
Keep your pressures right
Correct pressure is the single biggest factor in tyre life. Soft tyres wear the edges and run hot, hard tyres wear the middle. Check monthly and before long trips.
Rotate regularly
Rotating every 10,000km or at each service evens out wear across the set so all four last longer and wear out together.
Stay aligned and balanced
An alignment that is even slightly out will scrub tread off fast. Have it checked after new tyres, after kerb or pothole hits, or if you notice the car pulling.
Drive a little smoother
Hard acceleration, heavy braking and fast cornering all chew through rubber. Easing off not only saves tyres, it saves fuel and brakes too.
