A replacement tank swaps your standard tank for a larger one, giving the most extra capacity. An auxiliary tank adds a second tank alongside the original, which can be simpler on some vehicles. The best option depends on your make and model.
Mind the weight
Fuel is heavy, so a big tank full adds a lot of weight low down. Factor that into your overall load so you stay within your vehicle’s limits, and remember a heavier vehicle uses a little more fuel.
Fit it properly
A fuel tank is not a job to rush. It needs correct mounting, sealing and a gauge that reads accurately, fitted to suit your vehicle. Done right, it is a set-and-forget upgrade that pays off on every big trip.
